About Face Masks
Face masks are commonly seen throughout medical facilities as a method of protection and infection control. The general public will occasionally be seen wearing such masks during time of illness pandemics or during flu season. Face masks offer great protection against large contaminated airborne particles, and against the viruses and bacteria they carry.
Available in a variety of thickness levels for individualized protection, there are also face shield masks, as well. This design purpose is to protect the user against different liquid forms of contaminants. Face masks not only protect against airborne germs, but some will also protect against splashes, sprays and splatter from reaching your nose and/or mouth. Also, because they cover the nose and mouth, some find it easier to use a duckbill face mask as these provide more room for airflow between the face and the mask.
Most face masks are one-time use and are disposable. When the mask becomes soiled, or the user is done wearing it, the face mask should be disposed of properly. Because the purpose of a face mask is to protect one from the germs of others, as a precaution it is generally not advised to share a face mask with someone else.
