Bacteriostatic Water for Injection is a sterile, usp multiple dose vial used to mix, dilute or dissolve drugs prior to injection. Made with a chemically designed nonpyrogenic water. Contains 0.12% methylparaben, 0.012% propylparaben added as a bacteriostatic preservative. pH 4.5 to 7.0. Not intended for use in newborns.

Why are preservatives added to bacteriostatic water?

Antimicrobial agents are added to the vial of sterile water to extend the use over a 28 day period. Preventing waste and extending the shelf life of the water.
