Coloplast Biatain Foam Dressings have a unique 3-D polymer structure that absorbs and locks away light to heavy levels of exudate (wound fluid) from the wound without damaging the site. This means there is high exudate retention and no lateral spreading. A combination of very high absorption and retention capacities means that the Biatain Non-Adhesive Foam Dressing is a superior choice under compression therapy. A high retention value is indicative of minimum leakage and therefore less risk of maceration. Better rated absorption capacity 76% of users rated the absorption capacity of Biatain as excellent compared to only 7% of Allevyn users reduced leakage. Biatain had over 62% less incidence of leakage as compared to Allevyn Less need for peri-wound skin treatment. The use of periwound skin protection with Biatain was 24 percent lower than with Allevyn, Longer wear time. The mean wear time with the Biatain was longer than with the Allevyn and resulted in 36% fewer dressing changes per week.
Note: Biatain Non Adhesive Foam Dressing is especially suitable for use on fragile skin because it doesn't have an adhesive border.
