Kendall Excilon IV Sponges are a non-woven, pre-cut (T-slit) IV sponge that contours around any iv site for superior wound protection. Made with a polyester and rayon blend material that quickly absorbs blood away from the pincture site. Excilon IV Sponges have a 6-ply thickness that is highly absorbent and wicks away blood fast and fits around any medical iv site.

Woven gauze vs. Non-woven gauze

There are many choices in gauze pads to choose from, but two very important things you should consider when deciding which type of gauze to use; woven and non-woven. Non-woven gauze sponges (pads) are joined together with longer strands of absorbing fabric that have fluid-wicking properties that keep the wound dryer and less susceptible to infection. Woven gauze (standard type gauze) has a lesser fluid-wicking properties with shorter strands of fiber used for minimal absorption and are used to reduce the need for frequent changes. Non woven materials tend to be denser than woven materials, thus providing you with different levels of fluid absorption.
