What is PAD?

Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) is characterized by the narrowing of the arteries in the limbs due to plaque buildup over time – the same condition that causes heart attacks and strokes and could be a sign that this condition is affecting other major arteries. One major symptom of PAD is cramping of the muscles during light exercise, such as walking. Others may include cooler legs than arms, shiny skin over the legs, decreased pulse in the foot and can be confused with a poor circulation condition.
