Smith & Nephew: Acticoat Burn Actimicrobial Dressing
Acticoat burn dressing is a non-adherent, anti-microbial barrier that protects against pathogens without delaying wound healing. The immediate and controlled release of ionic silver allows the dressing to remain in place for an extended period. Acticoat delivers 3 days of uninterrupted antimicrobial activity. In other words, Acticoat burn dressing is made to help reduce the risk of infection in partial-and full-thickness wounds, including pressure ulcers, venous ulcers, diabetic ulcers, first-and-second degree burns, and donor sites. May also be used over debrided and grafted partial-thickness wounds.
Application
Avoid using oil-based cleansing agents. Cut the dressing to fit the wound size. Pleace either side of the dressing against the wound. If the wound is draining, apply the dressing dry. If the wound is dry, moisten the dressing with sterile water and apply it to the wound.(Don't use Normal Saline Solution)Don't use topical antimicrobials with Acticoat. Secure the dressing with an appropriate dressing.
