Suctioning is at best an uncomfortable procedure and is usually a frightening one for the patient. Suctioning is a procedure where both psychological and physiological defensive reflexes will come into play for the protection of the airway, so with the right medical equipment, like the Schuco suction machines this procedure goes as smooth as possible.

Why is suctioning important?
Suctioning is needed when mucus in the airways becomes too thick or too much to be coughed out or whenever a patient is not able to get rid of these secretions by themselves naturally.

What are the signs that a patient need to be suctioned?
A blue color is seen around the lips and mouth. This may be a sigh that he/ she is not receiving enough oxygen and the airways needs to be cleaned.
The airflow in and out of the airway is reduced.
The patient appears fussy and fidgety.
He/ she is using the muscles of the cheast and neck to help facilitate breathing.
The nostrils on their nose flare out when they breathe in.
You can hear bubbling or noisy breathing.
