Convatec™: Aquacel Ag Hydrofiber Dressing with Silver

Aquacel Ag Hydro fiber dressing is made with sodium carboxymethylcellulose (sod. CMC) and ionic silver (AG). Together these two materials provide Aquacel Ag dressings superior absorption while fighting off harmful bacteria.
This Technology of 1.2% (w/w) silver combines the favorable gelling characteristics of Hydro fiber Technology with the broad-spectrum antimicrobial properties of ionic silver (Ag+). Aquacel Ag is a sterile, single use, wound dressing comprised of sodium carboxymethylcellulose and ionic silver(Ag+). It is a soft and conformable dressing that remains integral when wet or dry. This highly absorbent dressing interacts with wound exudate and forms a soft gel that maintains a moist environment for optimal wound healing and easy removal with little or no damage to healing wounds. The ionic silver gives Aquacel Ag dressing its silver-gray appearance and broad-spectrum antimicrobial properties.
Under supervision of a health care professional, Aquacel Ag dressing may be used for the management of:
-Wounds at risk of infection (by creating an effective barrier to external contaminants).
-Partial-thickness(second-degree) burns
-Diabetic foot ulcers, leg ulcers(venous stasis ulcers, arterial ulcers and leg ulers of mixed etiology), and pressure ulcers/sores(partial-and full-thicness).
-Surgical wounds left to heal by secondary intent.
-Traumatic wounds.
-Wounds that are prone to minor bleeding, such as those that have been mechanically or surgically debrided.
-Oncology wounds with exudate.
