Purchase with a Purpose This October

"Purchase with purpose to end breast cancer forever," as the poignant headline from ShopKomen.com, the official merchandising site of Susan G. Komen for the Cure campaign reads. In an effort to help fund breast cancer research, many companies, including medical supply companies, have banded together to produce products like the Susan G. Komen line. October is Breast Cancer Awareness month - the time to raise awareness and buy is now!

This year for Breast Cancer Awareness month, Mountainside Medical Equipment is spending time highlighting the medical products they offer that support breast cancer research. To view these products, simply click here. You will be taken to a page that not only shows a few great pink ribbon medical supplies, but also current breast cancer statistics, and a fun video of  the "Pink Glove Dance."  This entertaining video by Medline Industries (one of several manufacturers we work with) was designed to help promote their line of pink breast cancer awareness gloves in an effort to help raise awareness and money for the cause.

So, remember to purchase with a purpose this October and help support a great cause that can help save lives across the globe!

Did you know that…

About 1 in 8 women in the United States (12%) will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of her lifetime

In 2010, an estimated 207,090 new cases of invasive breast cancer were expected to be diagnosed in women in the U.S., along with 54,010 new cases of non-invasive (in situ) breast cancer

About 39,840 women in the U.S. were expected to die in 2010 from breast cancer, though death rates have been decreasing since 1990. These decreases are thought to be the result of treatment advances, earlier detection through screening, and increased awareness

On the positive side, there were more than 2.5 million breast cancer survivors in the U.S in 2010
