Mountainside Medical Equipment would like to congratulate our Kindle Touch winner, Denise Karandy! Denise was kind enough to stop by our booth at the Muscular Dystrophy Association Walk at Driver’s Village in Syracuse earlier this month and signed up for our drawing. As it turns out, the Kindle she won came at just the right time for her!
Around the time Denise received the prize, she had just undergone surgery. She mentioned that she was grateful for the device as her mobility was limited and it helped keep her occupied. We were so glad that to hear that the Kindle went to someone who needed it and we hope for a speedy recovery for her.
Denise Karandy has supported efforts to aid Muscular Dystrophy patients for many years. Not only has she participated in the famously noted Jerry Lewis Telethon, but she also knows someone close to her suffering with the disease. "Everyone has their disease that they support and give to," explained Denise, "I support MD because there are over 40 diseases associated with that title and it can affect a person at any age, at any stage of their life." She also mentioned that she loves how the MDA is able to help all kinds of people in so many ways.
According to Denise, even though the turnout didn’t seem as large as last year, the MDA was still able to raise about the same amount of money from the walk. Some of this money goes towards helping kids suffering from the disease go to the MDA camp during the summer, which is a great opportunity. We were very happy to be able to participate and offer our services at the walk, and to meet so many great people like Diane who enjoy helping others in need by giving time and donating to a great cause.
