Healthcare Industry Untouched by Unemployment

The economy still may be in slow recovery, but if you are looking for a new position, look toward the healthcare industry. Hospitals, clinics, and nursing facilities are all continually looking for quality workers and not just doctors, or nurses. For years, the healthcare industry has had a plethora of unfilled, high-paying positions. With the implementation of Obama-care adding millions of previously uninsured patients into the system and the aging of the enormous baby boomer generation, the healthcare system is looking to become overloaded in the next few years. Positions do not just include physicians and nurses. Healthcare facilities are continually looking for dental hygienists, phlebotomists, lab workers, physical therapists, occupational therapists and a large variety of support positions. With the enormous increase of patients in the upcoming few years, hospitals are going to great lengths to fill these positions. Many facilities have hosted large hiring fairs to boost their nursing staff numbers. The other bonus to employment in the healthcare industry is that the field is essentially recession-proof. The need for health services will never go away, regardless of what the economy is doing. Also, as people’s needs change, more specialized forms of healthcare including geriatric medicine, mental health, and therapy services will become more saturated, needing worker assistance. So, if you are looking for a new career or perhaps just starting out on your higher-education journey, consider the positions available in the healthcare and service industry. Becoming part of clinical staff doesn’t mean you have to become a doctor or a nurse, there are many positions available that allow you to help others.
