National Cancer Survivors Day 2022: How to Celebrate and Support Cancer Survivors

National Cancer Survivors Day is an annual celebration of life that is held on the first Sunday in June. This year's celebration takes place Sunday, June 5th, and is held by the National Cancer Survivors Day Foundation.

 National Cancer Survivors Day 2021

The National Cancer Survivors Day Foundation provides free guidance, education, and networking to hundreds of hospitals, support groups, and other cancer-related organizations that hose National Cancer Survivors Day events in their communities. The Foundation works hard to improve the quality of life of cancer survivors by raising awareness of the ongoing challenges of cancer survivorship.

National Cancer Survivors Day is a celebration for those cancer fighters who have survived, an inspiration for those recently diagnosed, a gathering of support for all families, and an outreach to the community as a whole. On National Cancer Survivors Day, thousands gather across the globe to honor cancer survivors and to show the world that life after cancer or a cancer diagnosis is possible, and can be fruitful, rewarding, and inspiring.

Cancer Survivors

The National Cancer Survivors Day Foundation defines a survivor as anyone living with a history of cancer - from the moment of diagnosis through the remainder of life. National Cancer Survivors Day is an opportunity for your community to demonstrate that it has an active, productive cancer survivor population and to bring awareness to the challenges they face during and after treatment.

This is a day for everyone to celebrate. Whether you're a cancer survivor, a family member, friend, or medical professional, you are all invited to partake in this celebratory event. This day provides an opportunity for all people living with a history of cancer - including more than 15.5 million cancer survivors - to connect with each other, celebrate milestones, and recognize those who have supported them along the way.

It is also a day to draw attention to the ongoing challenges of cancer survivorship in order to promote more resources, research, and survivor-friendly legislation to improve cancer survivors' quality of life.

Do you want to get involved? Anybody can organize and a National Cancer Survivors Day event, and NCSD has tips on how to do that right here. Below we've got some tips on how to celebrate it even from home!

Celebrating National Cancer Survivors Day Online

1. Connect with Other Cancer Survivors

Sharing your experiences with other cancer survivors doesn't have to happen in person. You can connect with others on social media, using the hashtag #NCSD2022. Visit the National Cancer Survivors Day on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram to see how survivors are celebrating and keeping in touch.

2. Tell Your Story

One of the most important things you can do as a cancer survivor is share your story with other people. Spreading awareness of survivorship and the difficulties faced both with cancer and after remission increases people's understanding of those experiences.

3. Tag a Survivor

Even if you've never had cancer, there's a good chance you know a survivor. Show your love and support for someone you know on social media! Tag them in a post honoring them and their experiences, and celebrate the lives of those you love.
