How to Make an Emergency Checklist

How to Make an Emergency Checklist

Emergencies happen at the most unexpected and inopportune times, and getting the right information to people who can help you is crucial in a medical emergency. This is especially true now when first responders, medical staff, and hospital facilities are stretched to their limit. That's why you should carry an emergency medical checklist with you at all times.

What is the emergency checklist and why do you need one?

An Emergency Medical list is essentially a lifesaving list that can help you and others in case of an emergency. For instance, if you're driving and get into an accident, a first responder will be able to obtain all of the information they need while attending to you.

Your emergency list should always contain 5 important things:

  • Your first and last name.
  • Your home address, including street, city, and zip code.
  • Any medical conditions that you have.
  • Any medications that you currently take or are prescribed.
  • An emergency contact phone number: this can be the phone number of a family member, close friend, anyone that you can trust to be your emergency contact.

All of this information will greatly help a first responder or rescuer in case of an emergency. Be sure to create yours as soon as you can!
