Sphygmomanometers
Sphygmomanometers are medical devices used to measure blood pressure. A sphygmomanometer consist of an inflatable cuff attached to a pressure gauge and a stethoscope for auscultation of the brachial artery. The cuff is placed around the upper arm and inflated to temporarily stop blood flow in the artery. The air is then slowly released while the healthcare professional listens for the sounds of blood flowing through the artery. This allows the healthcare professional to determine the systolic and diastolic blood pressure readings, which are important indicators of cardiovascular health. Sphygmomanometers are commonly used in hospitals, doctor's offices, and at home to monitor blood pressure and diagnose and manage conditions such as hypertension.
