Topical anesthetic for use on normal intact skin to provide local analgesia for minor procedures such as I.V. cannulation or venipuncture; has also been used for painful procedures such as lumbar punctures and skin graft harvesting; for superficial minor surgery of genital mucous membranes and as an adjunt for local infiltration anesthesia in genital mucous membranes.
