Durafiber Absorbent Gelling Fiber Dressing is a sterile, extremely absorbent and conformable non-woven dressings that are used for the management of granulating wounds with medium to heavy exudation. Creating and maintaining a healthy moist wound healing environment, once these sterile dressings come into contact with wound exudate they form a cohesive gel that conforms to the wound bed and wicks moisture away from the wound and skin. Constructed with high structural integrity, these dressings will retain their shape, even when wet, and can provide up to 7 days of sustained coverage (depending on the level of exudate in the wound).

                • Step 1 – Following clinical protocols and guidelines, clean the wound
                • Step 2 – Choose a dressing size that most closely correlates with the size of the wound
                • Step 3 – Remove the dressing from the package and then, if needed, cut the dressing into a shape that will work the best for the shape of the wound
                • Step 4 – Cover the wound with the dressing, making sure to leave at least a 1cm (1/3 in) overlap where the dressing makes contact with the skin surrounding the wound
                • Step 5 – For wounds with deep cavities, loosely pack 85% of the wound. Remember that these dressings will expand and conform to the wound once they come into contact with exudate
                • Step 6 – Use a moisture retentive secondary dressing (like ALLEVYN) to secure the DURAFIBER dressing in place

                    • Due to their structural integrity, these dressings should come off easily and painlessly, staying in one piece that doesn’t leave behind any fiber sheds or dressing residue
                    • If the dressing feels resistant when you go to remove it, dampen the dressing to help ease the removal process without disrupting the wound healing process
                    • Wearing gloves and using sterile tweezers or forceps to remove the dressing will help protect the wound from exposure to contaminants
                    • When used with infected wounds, ensure that the wound is treated in accordance with clinical guidelines

                      1. These dressings are not intended to be used as a surgical sponge for heavily bleeding wounds
                      2. Discontinue using these dressings if they cause reddening or sensitization
                      3. Wounds and dressings should be monitored closely and dressings should be changed at least once every seven days
                      4. Once the packaged has been opened these dressings are no longer sterile, and therefore, any unused portions of the dressing should be discarded and not saved to use at a later date
                      5. These are single use dressings that should not be reused or used for multiple patients
                      6. Ensure that all dressings have been removed and there aren’t any pieces left behind in the wound bed
