super-sani-cloth-germicidal-surface-disinfectant-cleaner-pull-wipes-80-count
Super Sani-Cloth Germicidal Surface Disinfectant Cleaner Pull Wipes 80 Count

Super Sani-Cloth® Germicidal Disinfectant Wipes

A hospital-grade disinfectant wipe canister (analogous to PDI’s Super Sani-Cloth wipes) ready for use on surfaces. Super Sani-Cloth® Germicidal Disposable Wipes are ready-to-use, 2-in-1 cleaning/disinfection wipes (EPA Reg. 9480-4) by PDI for hard, non-porous surfaces and non-invasive medical equipment in healthcare settings . Each wipe (approx. 8.2″×9.8″) is soaked in a fast-acting formula combining isopropyl alcohol (~60–70%) with dual quaternary ammonium compounds (“benzalkonium” chlorides). (Notably, the formulation contains no chlorine bleach, latex or PHMB.) This alcohol-quat blend yields an “intermediate-level” disinfectant. The product is bactericidal, tuberculocidal, virucidal and fungicidal (per EPA) with a rapid contact time: it kills ~32 common pathogens (MRSA, VRE, Pseudomonas, Mycobacterium terrae (TB), yeasts, etc.) and enveloped viruses (SARS-CoV-2, influenza, hepatitis, vaccinia, etc.) in about 1–2 minutes. It even inactivates emerging pathogens like Candida auris and is on EPA’s “List N” for use against COVID-19. (It is not sporicidal, so it does not kill C. difficile spores or required glutaraldehyde-level sterilization.)

Composition and Mechanism

The active ingredients are listed as isopropyl alcohol and two quaternary ammonium chlorides (alkyl dimethyl benzyl- and alkyl dimethyl ethylbenzyl-ammonium chloride). In one formulation variant these are ~62% IPA, 0.25% benzalkonium chloride, 0.25% ethylbenzalkonium chloride. The alcohol rapidly denatures proteins and dissolves lipid membranes, while the quats disrupt cell membranes and proteins. In effect, the wipe both cleans (solubilizing organic matter and dirt) and disinfects (killing the microbes) in one step. The wipes are low-lint and safe on most water-resistant surfaces (plastics, metals, laminates); the formula is specially tested to be compatible with medical device surfaces (IV pumps, monitors, keyboards, etc.) without damaging electronics.

Efficacy (Spectrum of Kill)

Super Sani-Cloth wipes are hospital-grade disinfectants. The manufacturer claims “32 kills in 2 minutes” – that is, effective against ≥30 specified organisms within 2 minutes of wet contact. These include Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria (e.g. Staph aureus including MRSA, Enterococcus including VRE, E. coli, Pseudomonas spp., Acinetobacter, etc.), multi-drug-resistant organisms (MDROs), Mycobacterium terrae (surrogate for M. tuberculosis), yeasts (Candida albicans and C. auris), and a broad set of viruses (enveloped viruses like influenza, SARS-CoV-2, HIV, HBV/HCV, vaccinia and even some non-enveloped viruses like norovirus per EN 14476 standards). In short, the product is both bactericidal, tuberculocidal, virucidal (including SARS-CoV-2), and fungicidal. (It is worth noting these wipes kill “bloodborne pathogens” and meet CDC/OSHA/CMS disinfection guidelines; however they are not shown to kill spores.)

Packaging and Availability

These wipes come in a soft-pack pull-wipes dispenser holding 80 cloths. The re-sealable soft pack is about 8.2″×9.8″ and designed for manual one-at-a-time dispensing. It is more portable and uses ~80% less plastic than a rigid canister. (PDI also sells larger formats, e.g. 160-count canisters, XL-size wipes, and individually wrapped packets.) The real advantage of this format is convenience: an 8″×10″ wipe covers large areas, and the pack easily fits on carts or countertops. Wipes are saturated (no activation needed) and sealed to retain moisture until use.

Usage Instructions

To use, pull out one wipe and unfold it. Wipe the target surface(s) thoroughly in an “S” or back-and-forth motion, applying even pressure (the wipe provides clean, mechanical scrubbing action plus disinfectant release). Ensure the surface stays visibly wet for the labeled contact time (approx. 1–2 minutes). Do not let the wipe dry out on the surface before the full contact time, and do not use the same wipe on multiple distinct surfaces (change wipes as needed). Allow the surface to air dry afterwards (no rinsing needed). The liquid evaporates quickly, leaving the area dry. In practice, one might wipe down bed rails, IV poles, exam tables, monitors/keyboard (see photo) – anywhere rapid decontamination is needed. The wipe simultaneously removes visible soil and disinfects, making it useful for point-of-care cleaning (for example, wiping a bedside table or medical equipment between patients).

Photo: A healthcare worker disinfecting equipment with a wipe – Super Sani-Cloth and similar products are used for quick cleaning/disinfection of devices and high-touch surfaces.

Safety and Precautions

Super Sani-Cloth is labeled for surface use only – it is not for hand antisepsis or injection. Key precautions: because of the high alcohol content, the wipes (and wet surface) are highly flammable. Keep them away from flames or hot surfaces, and let surfaces dry completely before any ignition source or patient contact. Avoid eye contact or prolonged skin contact; if an eye is accidentally exposed, flush with water. Ingredients are EPA-safe but can irritate sensitive skin or eyes. PDI notes the formula has no latex, bleach, phenols, or glutaraldehyde, reducing some hazards, but personal protective equipment (gloves) may still be used per facility protocol. Do not use on skin, mucous membranes, or introduce into the body – this product is optimized for hard, inanimate surfaces. After use, discard wipes in trash (not in sharps or laundry).

Regulatory Notes: This is an EPA-registered intermediate-level disinfectant (Reg. #9480-4) qualified for use in healthcare facilities. It appears on EPA’s List N for SARS-CoV-2 disinfection. The wipes are non-sterile, and have a shelf-life of ~2 years (store closed at room temperature). The packaging and label include standard directions for use against target microbes and relevant safety warnings.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0996/0350/files/SuperSani-ClothGermicidalSurfaceDisinfectantCleanerPullWipes.jpg?v=1779294336
https://www.mountainside-medical.com/products/super-sani-cloth-germicidal-surface-disinfectant-cleaner-pull-wipes-80-count
