How to use Ozempic (Semaglutide Injection) 0.25mg or 0.5mg Pre-filled Pen 3mL:

1. Wash your hands thoroughly before using the Ozempic pen. Gather all the materials needed: Ozempic pen, alcohol swab, and a sharps container.

2. Check the label on the pen to ensure that it is the correct dosage (0.25mg or 0.5mg) and that it is not expired. Do not use the pen if it is expired or if the liquid is discolored or has particles in it.

3. Remove the pen from the packaging and check the liquid level in the window. The liquid should be clear and colorless. If the liquid is cloudy or discolored, do not use the pen and contact your healthcare provider.

4. Pull off the pen cap and discard it. Do not touch the needle at any time.

5. Clean the injection site with an alcohol swab. The recommended injection sites are the stomach, upper thigh, or upper arm. Avoid injecting into scar tissue or bruised areas.

6. Hold the pen with the needle pointing upwards. Check the pen window for any air bubbles. If there are any bubbles, tap the pen gently to make them rise to the top and then push the plunger in to remove them.

7. Set your dose by turning the dose selector until the correct dose appears in the dose window. The pen has a maximum dose of 0.5mg, so if you need a higher dose, you may need to use multiple pens.

8. With one hand, pinch the skin at the injection site to create a fold. Insert the needle at a 45 to 90 degree angle into the skin. Push the plunger all the way down until the dose window shows “0”. Hold the pen in place for 6 seconds to ensure the full dose is delivered.

9. Remove the needle from the skin and gently press down on the injection site with a cotton swab or gauze. Do not rub the injection site.

10. Dispose of the used pen in a sharps container. Do not reuse the pen and do not share it with others.

11. Rotate the injection site with each injection. Do not inject in the same spot twice in a row.

12. If you missed a dose or are unsure of whether you took your dose, do not take an extra dose. Contact your healthcare provider for further instructions.

13. Keep track of your injections in a diary or on a calendar to ensure you are taking your medication as prescribed.

14. If you experience any unusual symptoms or side effects, contact your healthcare provider immediately.

15. Follow your healthcare provider’s instructions for diet and exercise while using Ozempic. It is important to maintain a healthy lifestyle to see the best results from this medication.
