October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and there are only 9 days left to join Mountainside Medical’s fight against breast cancer. As a team, we have set a goal to raise $1,000 for the cause, and there’s still more to go!

One in every 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer, and 2 of the women diagnosed reaches out to the American Cancer Society for help and support. In terms of donations, every little bit counts. Did you ever wonder where does your hard earned money goes once you donate to the American Cancer Society?

The American Cancer Society offers a 24 hour help line.

Their phone lines are open 24/7 to help connect people with the answers and help they need. Each year, the organization provides information, help and support to nearly one million individuals who call the hotline (1-800-227-2345).

In addition to an always-open hotline, the American Cancer Society provides online resources to those who have been diagnosed with breast cancer and their loved ones. Here you can find tips, tools and online resources to help set goals and stay motivated to eat right and maintain a healthy lifestyle during treatment and beyond. There are also different online communities you can join – including those specific to patients going through cancer treatment, survivors, and even caregivers. These areas allow people to share stories and experiences, provide comfort and support, and find/offer help to those in need.

For those who are unable to find a way to get to treatment centers, the American Cancer Society provides transport and even lodging for those who are going through treatment and their families.
