Chantel's Experience at Mountainside Medical Equipment

Chantel's Experience at Mountainside Medical Equipment

Today, we are bringing one of our sales  representatives, Chantel, to the spotlight. When  we first hired her, we enjoyed her personality,  her kindness, and her ability to be a team  player. In addition to those traits, we also  connected with the fact that she was a veteran  that had served in the Navy. As a SDVOSB  (Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small  Business), Mountainside Medical Equipment encourages the employment of Veterans and  wants to help close the unemployment gap for veterans.

We had the chance to sit down with Chantel to ask her a few questions about her experiences in the Navy and here at Mountainside Medical Equipment.

These are the five questions we asked her:

Interviewer - How long were you in the Navy for?

Chantel - 3 ½ years.

Interviewer -What did you like most about being in the Navy?

Chantel - Some of the strongest human connections I have ever made were while I was in the Navy. There is a level of faith and trust in your shipmates that just doesn’t exist in everyday life. Because of the Navy, I now have family covering the globe.

Interviewer -How long have you worked for Mountainside Medical for?

Chantel - Nearly 6 months.

Interviewer -When you heard Mountainside Medical Equipment was a SDVOSB, how did it impact you?

Chantel - I instantly felt like this is the place I was supposed to be. I would have settled for ‘small business,’ as I had grown disillusioned after working for a large faceless corporation for many years. I wanted to be somewhere that was more ‘community’ minded.  Learning that the owner is a service disabled veteran, like myself, it deepened the desire to work for and support this company and this family; and by extension, the local community. Veterans and our military are what make our country great. Small businesses are what make our communities great. So, for me, it’s a great source of pride.

Interviewer -Would you encourage other veterans to work for Veteran-Owned Small Businesses based on your experience?

Chantel - Absolutely. First of all, I would encourage everyone, veteran and civilian alike, to seek out small businesses over large corporations for employment. As for veterans… no one understands a veteran better than another veteran and I fully believe that we should stick together and support each other. It’s all about family and community.
