What is Hydrocortisone Cream?
Hydrocortisone Cream containing the active ingredient Hydrocortisone is considered a mild topical corticosteroid type of medication. The medicated cream is mainly prescribed to treat eczema and temporarily relieve minor skin irritations such as insect bites, dermatitis, rash, allergies, itching of the outer female genitals and anal itching. Hydrocortisone works by acting inside the cells to decrease the release of inflammatory substances to reduce redness, swelling and itching of the skin.

How is Hydrocortisone Cream used?
Prior to applying the medication, thoroughly wash and dry your hands and the affected area. Apply a thin layer of the cream onto the affected area and gently massage it in. It is not recommended to wrap the treated area with dressings or wear tight clothing after applying the medication. Wash your hands immediately after the treatment unless the hands are part of the treated area.

Hydrocortisone Cream is usually applied topically 3 to 4 times per day unless otherwise directed by a doctor. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the patient's condition and their response to the therapy.
