Albutein 25% (Human) is a sterile, concentrated solution of human serum albumin produced by Grifols Therapeutics. It's primarily used as a volume expander and is commonly prescribed for restoring and maintaining blood volume in patients who have experienced blood loss or hemoconcentration due to conditions like burns, shock, or severe injuries. The product is preservative-free, which reduces the risk of allergic reactions and allows it to be used in individuals who may be sensitive to preservatives. The solution in a single-dose, 20 mL vial contains 25% albumin, which is derived from human plasma. Being a single-dose vial, it's intended for one-time use and should be discarded after opening to prevent contamination.

Note; Non-Returnable Item

Composition:

Contains 25% human serum albumin, which is a protein derived from human plasma.
It is also isotonic and may contain small amounts of sodium and other electrolytes to maintain osmotic balance.

Indications:

  • Used as a plasma volume expander.
  • Commonly indicated for treating hypovolemia due to surgery, trauma, burns, and hemorrhagic shock.
  • May also be used in acute conditions where patients have low albumin levels, such as in severe liver disease or nephrotic syndrome.

Formulation:

  • Comes as a preservative-free solution to minimize the risk of allergic reactions.
  • Each vial contains 20 mL of a 25% albumin solution.

Administration:

Delivered intravenously and should be dosed according to therapeutic needs, monitored by healthcare professionals.

Packaging:

  • Single-dose vials to ensure sterility; unused portions should be discarded after use to avoid contamination.

Manufacturing and Safety:

  • Produced by Grifols Therapeutics, adhering to rigorous safety standards, including screening for pathogens.
  • The albumin is derived from carefully sourced human plasma and undergoes multiple steps to ensure purity and safety.

Storage:

  • Typically stored at room temperature and requires protection from light.

Healthcare providers need to evaluate each patient's condition to determine the appropriate use and dosage of Albutein 25%. It is also critical that this medication is administered by health professionals with the appropriate monitoring of the patient's clinical status.
