The Chitogauze Kit with Prometheus ChitoGauze XR Pro is a medical kit used in emergency situations to control severe bleeding. It includes a guze pad made of sterile cotton infused with chitosan, a hemostatic agent derived from the shells of crustaceans. Chitosan helps to promote blood clotting and stop bleeding quickly. The kit also contains a roll of XR Pro chitogauze, which is a wider version of the chitogauze with extra layers of chitosan for greater clotting power. This kit is an effective tool for emergency responders, paramedics, and military personnel to control severe bleeding in the field.

This bagged kit includes a 2”x2” gauze pad, as well as the Prometheus ChitoGauze® XR Pro hemostatic dressing. The Chitogauze® is impregnated with Chitosan, to control traumatic hemorrhaging.

Includes:

  • (1) Prometheus ChitoGauze® XR Pro
  • (1) 2x2 Gauze pad

Prometheus ChitoGauze XR Pro is a type of wound dressing that is impregnated with chitosan, a natural biopolymer derived from the shells of crustaceans. Chitosan has been shown to have antimicrobial properties and can support wound healing.

When the dressing is applied to a wound, the chitosan in the dressing comes into contact with the wound surface. Chitosan forms a gel-like layer when it comes into contact with wound fluids, creating a moist environment that is beneficial for wound healing. This gel layer also helps to create a barrier against bacteria and other microorganisms that can cause infection.

Chitosan has positively-charged molecules, which attract and bind to negatively-charged elements such as bacteria, dead tissue, and other debris in the wound. This process is known as electrostatic interaction and helps to remove these harmful substances from the wound.

As the dressing absorbs wound fluids, it releases chitosan onto the wound, providing a sustained antimicrobial effect. Chitosan has been shown to be effective against a wide range of bacteria, including both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.

Additionally, chitosan has been found to stimulate the production of collagen, a key protein involved in wound healing. This can help to promote the growth of new tissue and blood vessels, leading to faster healing.

Overall, the combination of chitosan with the wound dressing creates an ideal environment for wound healing by reducing infection, promoting tissue regeneration, and regulating moisture levels in the wound.
