Bimatoprost ophthalmic eye drop solution 0.03% 2.5 mL is a prescription medication used to treat high pressure inside the eye caused by glaucoma or other eye conditions. It is also used to improve eyelash growth in people with a condition called hypotrichosis, which causes sparse or inadequate lashes. This medication works by reducing the pressure inside the eye and promoting the growth of longer, thicker, and darker eyelashes. It is applied directly to the eye(s) once a day. Bimatoprost ophthalmic eye drop solution is sold under the brand name Lumigan among others.
Bimatoprost ophthalmic eye drop solution is a prescription medication used to treat glaucoma and increase eyelash growth. Here are the steps for using this medication:
1. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water before handling the eye drops.
2. Remove any contact lenses you are wearing before using the eye drops.
3. Tilt your head back and look up towards the ceiling.
4. With your index finger, gently pull down the lower eyelid to create a small pocket.
5. Hold the eye drop bottle upside down over the affected eye. Be careful not to touch the tip of the bottle to your eye or any other surface.
6. Squeeze one drop into the pocket created by your lower eyelid.
7. Gently close your eyes and press down on the inner corner of your eye with your finger for about 1 minute. This helps prevent the medication from draining into your tear duct and being absorbed into the rest of your body.
8. If you need to use the medication in both eyes, repeat the process for the other eye.
9. Wipe away any excess medication with a clean tissue.
10. If you are using any other eye medications, wait at least 5 minutes before applying them.
11. Wash your hands again to remove any excess medication.
12. Put the cap back on the eye drop bottle and make sure it is tightly closed.
It is important to use this medication exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Do not use more or less than the recommended dose or stop using it without consulting your doctor first. If you experience any side effects or have any concerns, talk to your doctor. Follow your treatment plan closely, and do not skip any doses.
