3M Curos Jet Disinfecting Caps for Needleless Port Connectors CFJ1 Series are single-use, disposable caps designed to disinfect and protect needleless ports on medical devices. They are specifically designed for use on Curos port protectors, which are connected to needleless connectors to protect them from contamination.

3M™ Curos Jet™ Disinfecting Caps are the next-generation solution for needleless connector disinfection. Meeting the high-efficacy standards of all Curos port protectors, Curos Jet disinfecting caps utilize 70% isopropyl alcohol (IPA) to disinfect all critical surfaces of needleless connectors. Consistent use of Curos disinfecting caps on I.V. needleless connectors is associated with decreased CLABSI.
Curos Jet disinfecting caps are dispensed as individual caps or on a convenient five-cap strip which can be hung from I.V. poles for easy access.

Some key features of these disinfecting caps include:

1. Jet Disinfection Technology: The caps use a jet stream to deliver an alcohol-based disinfectant deep into the port, ensuring complete disinfection of the internal components.

2. Seal Check Indicator: Each cap has a seal check indicator that turns blue once activated, providing a visual confirmation of disinfection.

3. Disinfects in 1 minute. Protects ports for up to 7 days if not removed

4. Universal Design: These caps can fit a wide range of needleless ports, making them a versatile option for healthcare facilities.

5. In vitro testing shows effectiveness against the six microorganisms commonly associated with CLABSI: Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Candida glabrata, and Candida albicans

These caps are intended to be used before any access or connection is made to a port, and can help reduce the risk of contamination and infection from needleless connectors. They are suitable for use in hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare settings, wherever needleless ports are used.

FAQs About IV Clave Connectors, Needeless, Tubing Connectors & IV Spikes
  • What is a Clave on IV Tubing?

A clave on IV tubing is a needleless connector that enables secure, closed-system access to intravenous lines, eliminating the need for needles and minimizing the risk of catheter-related bloodstream infections (CRBSIs). It provides an effective microbial barrier for IV therapy, central lines, and peripheral IV catheters.

  • What is a Clave Connector Used For?

Clave connectors are used to connect syringes or IV lines to catheters or tubing Allow needleless access for flushing, medication administration, and blood draws Promote injection safety and help reduce needlestick injuries

  • How to Use a MicroClave Connector?

Disinfect the hub per hospital protocol Attach syringe or IV line firmly to the MicroClave needleless connector Administer medication or fluids as indicated Flush with saline or per protocol and remove the syringe Clean the port again, ensuring optimal infection control

  • What is a Clave for a Cannula?

A clave for a cannula acts as a needleless IV port at the end of the cannula, offering closed, safe, and repeated access points for medications, fluids, and blood sampling while actively preventing reflux and reducing contamination risks.

  • What Does a Clave Do?

Maintains a closed IV system Decreases the chance of CRBSIs Provides needleless port for secure access Ensures continuous antimicrobial protection

  • How to Change Clave on Central Line?

Wash hands & don gloves Stop infusion & clamp the line Disinfect old clave connector hub Unscrew and remove the old clave Clean catheter hub with alcohol Attach a new sterile clave connector Unclamp line and flush as prescribed

  • What Is the Cost of Clave Connector?

The cost of clave connectors varies based on type and quantity but typically ranges from $1.50 to $3.50 per unit—offering cost-effective infection control in hospitals, clinics, and home IV therapy.

  • What Is the Best Needleless Connector?

The best needleless connector is a closed-system neutral displacement connector like the MicroClave—renowned for minimal reflux, reduced infection rates, and compatibility with both central and peripheral IV setups.

  • What Is a MicroClave Connector Used For?

A MicroClave connector provides a neutral displacement IV access port for: Medication administration Blood draws Flushing IV catheters Minimizing occlusions & infections

  • What Is IV Clave?

IV Clave is a proprietary needleless IV connector designed to create a secure, closed, and microbial-resistant port for all intravenous therapies and blood draws.

  • Why Choose Our IV Clave Connectors, Needleless Tubing Connectors & IV Spikes?

Prevent IV infection with needleless technology Compatible with all IV tubing, central venous catheters, and peripheral IV lines Highest ranked for infection control, needleless access, and catheter care Easy to use, clear instructions, and bulk hospital packaging available Preferred for use with central line clave replacement, IV infusions, and home IV therapy
