Triamcinolone Acetonide Injection Suspension 40 mg Per 1 mL, Single-Dose Vial (Rx)

Triamcinolone Acetonide Injection Suspension is a synthetic corticosteroid with potent anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive properties. Each milliliter (mL) of this sterile, single-dose vial formulation contains 40 mg of triamcinolone acetonide as the active ingredient, designed for intramuscular, intra-articular, intrabursal, or intralesional administration.

Indications:

This medication is indicated for the treatment of various conditions that respond to corticosteroid therapy. These include, but are not limited to:

• Severe allergic reactions.
• Dermatologic conditions like eczema and psoriasis.
• Inflammatory joint diseases such as osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis
• Endocrine disorders.
• Respiratory diseases like asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
• Hematologic disorders
• Specific ophthalmic diseases

Mechanism of Action:

Triamcinolone acetonide works by inhibiting the release of substances in the body that cause inflammation. It achieves this by blocking the synthesis of prostaglandins and other mediators involved in the inflammatory response.

Dosage and Administration:

• The dosage of triamcinolone acetonide must be individualized based on the specific condition being treated, patient response, and presence of side effects.
• For intramuscular use, the recommended initial dose may range from 20 to 80 mg depending on the condition.
• For intra-articular or intrabursal administration, the typical dose range is 2.5 to 40 mg, depending on the size of the joint or bursa.
• For intralesional injection, the usual dose ranges from 5 to 10 mg per injection site.
• It should not be administered intravenously.

Contraindications:

Warnings and Precautions:

• Prolonged use of corticosteroids may result in increased susceptibility to infections, hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis suppression, and adverse effects on bone density.
