Dextrose 5% for Injection, also known as D5W, is a sterile, nonpyrogenic, aqueous solution of dextrose in water for injection. Dextrose 5% for Injection is administered by intravenous infusion for the treatment of dehydration, hypoglycemia, and shock. The solution also may be used as a vehicle for the administration of other drugs.

Dextrose for Injection IV Bags 500 mL used for iv therapy. Each 100 mL contains dextrose, Hydrous 5 g. 253 m0$mo/ Liter (calc.) pH4.3 (3.2 to 6.5). Dextrose solutions without salts should not be used in blood transfusions because of possible rouleau formation for use only with Add-Vantage system components.
