Treprostinil is a medication used to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), a condition that causes high blood pressure in the arteries of the lungs. It works by relaxing and widening these arteries, allowing for better blood flow and decreasing the workload on the heart. Treprostinil is administered through injection, and the 1mg/mL multiple-dose vial contains 20 mL of the medication. This means that there is approximately 20 milligrams of treprostinil in each milliliter of solution. The multiple-dose vial allows for several doses to be drawn from the same vial, making it more convenient for patients who require multiple injections.

How to use Treprostinil Injection 1mg/mL Multiple-Dose Vial:
1. First, make sure to wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water.
2. Check the medication label and packaging to ensure that you have the correct medication and dose prescribed by your doctor.
3. Gather all necessary supplies including the treprostinil injection, syringe, alcohol wipes, and a sharps container.
4. Wash your hands again and clean the top of the treprostinil vial with an alcohol wipe.
5. Using a syringe, draw out the prescribed amount of medication from the vial. Be sure to follow your doctor's instructions regarding the correct dose and amount to withdraw.
6. Double-check the syringe for any air bubbles. If present, gently tap on the syringe to remove the bubbles and push the plunger until the medication reaches the prescribed dose.
7. Choose an injection site and clean the area with an alcohol wipe. The recommended injection sites are the top of the arm, thigh, or abdomen.
8. Hold the syringe like a pencil with your dominant hand and use the other hand to pinch the skin at the injection site.
9. With a quick motion, insert the needle into the skin at a 90-degree angle. Push the plunger slowly to inject the medication.
10. Once the medication is injected, gently remove the needle and hold a small piece of sterile gauze or cotton over the injection site. Apply gentle pressure to stop any bleeding.
11. Discard the used syringe and vial in a sharps container as directed. Do not throw it in the trash.
12. Monitor the injection site for any signs of infection such as redness, swelling, or pain. If you experience any of these symptoms, contact your healthcare provider.
13. After using the medication, wash your hands again with soap and water.
14. Store the remaining medication in the refrigerator as directed by your doctor. Do not freeze the medication.

Note: Do not mix the treprostinil injection with any other medication or diluent. If you have any questions or concerns about how to use this medication, do not hesitate to contact your doctor or pharmacist for further instruction.
