Vaccines

Vaccines are used to prevent infectious and sometimes deadly diseases by imparting immunity against specific pathogens. When a person receives a vaccine, it introduces a small, harmless amount of a disease-causing agent, or a small part of the agent, into their body. This exposure prompts the immune system to produce antibodies to fight off the invader. Vaccines can protect individuals and communities from disease outbreaks and help to control or eradicate highly contagious illnesses.
