Silver Sulfadiazine Cream for Burns

Outdoor injuries increase in summer, and burns are no exception: fire pits, campfires, and fireworks can all cause serious burns when things go wrong. It's always a great idea to keep a proper burn cream on hand when you're doing anything with fire, and one of our favorites is Silver Sulfadiazine Cream!

Silver Sulfadiazine Cream is a topical skin cream that treats various types of burns, as well as prevents infection. It works on both humans and animals, making it a common choice for both hospitals and veterinarians' offices.

Silver Sulfadiazine Cream is an effective, soothing cream that is bactericidal for many gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria. It also works well against yeast. This antimicrobial cream is ideal for preventing and treating wound sepsis in patients with second and third degree burns.

There are several types of burns out there, everything from sunburns to electrical burns. This cream is used to take the harsh sting out from any type of burn, to heal it effectively, and to prevent any infection.

Silver Sulfadiazine acts only on the cell membrane and cell wall to produce its bactericidal effect. This helps to decrease the risk of bacteria spreading to surrounding healthy skin, or to the blood where it can cause sepsis.

We have Silver Sulfadiazine cream in multiple formats: in a 20 gram tube, a 50 gram jar, an 85 gram tube, and a 400 gram jar (equivalent to 1 pound) that's ideal for doctors, veterinarians, farm owners, and anyone else who may have a significant, high-volume need for it.

How to Apply Silver Sulfadiazine Cream

Apply this medication to the wound using sterile techniques - such as wearing sterile gloves and using sterile application tools - as directed by a doctor, usually one to two times a day. The layer of medication should be approximately one-sixteenth of an inch, or 1 to 2 millimeters thick, or as directed.

The wound should be covered with the cream at all times. Dressings may be applied over the cream, but only if needed. If some of he cream rubs off of the wound, be sure to reapply it immediately. This cream should also be reapplied immediately after hydrotherapy.

Treatment usually continues until the wound is completely healed or until the site is ready for skin grafting. A health care professional will clean and remove the dead tissue from the wound to help the healing process. Be sure to use this medication regularly to obtain the most benefit from it. Using it at the same time each day, usually helps.
