Description

The FreeStyle Libre 2 replacement Sensor is a device used for continuous glucose monitoring in individuals with diabetes. It is a small circular patch that is worn on the back of the upper arm for up to 14 days. The sensor measures glucose levels in interstitial fluid (fluid between cells) and transmits this information to a handheld reader or smartphone app. It allows individuals with diabetes to track and monitor their glucose levels throughout the day without the need for routine finger pricks. The sensor is also equipped with alarms to alert the individual when their glucose levels are too low or too high. When the sensor's 14-day wear period is over, it is replaced with a new sensor.

The FreeStyle Libre 2 replacement Sensor works by using a small, flexible sensor patch that is worn on the back of the upper arm. The sensor measures glucose levels in the interstitial fluid (fluid between the cells in the tissue beneath the skin) every minute and stores the data in the sensor for up to 8 hours. 

The sensor communicates wirelessly with the FreeStyle Libre 2 reader or the FreeStyle LibreLink app on a compatible mobile device. The reader or app then displays the current glucose reading, as well as a trend arrow indicating whether the glucose levels are rising, falling, or stable. This allows individuals with diabetes to monitor their glucose levels in real-time and make informed decisions about their medication, diet, and activity levels. 

The sensor is replaced every 14 days by removing the old sensor and applying a new one on a different spot on the back of the upper arm. The old sensor can be discarded, and the new sensor can then be scanned with the reader or app to begin providing continuous glucose readings.
