Xofluza is a new antiviral drug that is used to treat the flu. It is a pill that is taken by mouth. Xofluza is a prescription drug. Xofluza is a new flu medication that was released in October of 2018. It is a pill that is taken once a day and is meant to help reduce the symptoms of the flu. It is not a vaccine, so it does not help prevent you from getting the flu, but it can help reduce the symptoms if you do get it.
Xofluza (baloxavir marboxil) Flu Treatment Tablets. XOFLUZA is indicated for the treatment of acute uncomplicated influenza in patients 12 years of age and older who have been symptomatic for no more than 48 hours.
Baloxavir Marboxil is a highly potent, selective, and orally available inhibitor of the influenza virus neuraminidase. It is effective against both influenza A and B viruses. In Phase III clinical trials, Baloxavir Marboxil was found to be superior to oseltamivir (Tamiflu) in reducing the duration of illness by about 1 day. The mechanism of action of Baloxavir Marboxil is inhibition of the release of progeny virus from infected cells, thereby reducing viral replication.
XOFLUZA 20 mg Tablets are white to light yellow, oblong shaped film-coated tablets debossed with “772” on one side and “20” on the other side.
