Rifampin
Rifampin is an antibiotic primarily used in the treatment of tuberculosis (TB) and for the elimination of Neisseria meningitidis carriers to prevent the spread of bacterial meningitis. It works by inhibiting bacterial RNA synthesis, thereby stopping the growth of bacteria. Often used in combination with other antibiotics, Rifampin is an essential component of TB treatment regimens to prevent resistance. It is also used to treat latent TB infections and is sometimes prescribed for certain types of Staphylococcus infections, including those resistant to other antibiotics.
