Lupron Depot injection is a medication that is used to treat prostate cancer in men. It works by lowering the levels of testosterone in the body. This may help to shrink the tumor. It is also used to treat endometriosis, a condition in which tissue that lines the inside of the uterus grows outside the uterus. Lupron Depot may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.

Lupron Depot - when looking for a hormone therapy for cancer, Lupron Depot is one of the most common drugs prescribed. It is used to help relieve symptoms associated with advanced prostate cancer. Lupron Depot stops the body from making testosterone and because of this, prostate cancer cells may shrink or stop growing. The way it works is by the 1st injection frees the drug from the depot, and then the drug circulates in the body, breaking down testosteroneproducing cells. The 2nd injection (3 days later) blocks the testosterone that is usually produced during the early morning.

Leuprolide acetate is a synthetic drug that is used to treat a number of conditions, including prostate cancer, uterine cancer, and endometriosis. This drug belongs to a class of drugs called gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) agonists. These drugs work by blocking the release of a hormone called GnRH from the brain. This hormone is responsible for the stimulation of the production of sex hormones, including testosterone and estrogen. By blocking the release of GnRH, leuprolide acetate can help to decrease the production of these hormones. This can not only help to treat the condition being treated, but can also help to prevent the recurrence of the condition.
