The MicroClave connector has two internal valves that automatically open and close when the catheter is connected or disconnected, creating a closed system that helps prevent the entry of bacteria and air into the bloodstream. It also allows for easy flushing and locking of the catheter, as well as an audible click to confirm secure connection. The use of these needleless connectors has been shown to decrease the incidence of catheter-related bloodstream infections.
