Directions for Use
Always follow the instructions enclosed with your particular package. The steps below summarize the standard First Response Early Result procedure.

Check the expiration date and wrapper. Do not use an expired test or one with damaged packaging. Open the wrapper only when ready to test.

Remove the protective cap. Expose the absorbent tip. Hold the test by its handle, with the tip pointing downward.

Apply the urine sample using either method:

Urine stream: Hold only the absorbent tip in the urine stream for 5 seconds.

Collected sample: Collect urine in a clean, dry container and immerse only the absorbent tip for 5 seconds.
Keep urine away from the result window and the rest of the test stick.

Replace the cap and lay the test flat. Place it on a dry surface with the result window facing upward.

Wait 3 full minutes. Use a timer. Do not interpret an apparent negative before the full waiting period.

Read the result promptly. Read according to the package’s timing instructions. Do not interpret changes that appear after 10 minutes.
How to Read the Results

Two pink lines: Pregnant. One line may be lighter than the other. Two pink lines appearing within the instructed reading window indicate a positive result.

One pink line: Not pregnant. This may also occur if testing was too early. Retest if your period does not start.

No pink lines: Invalid result. Repeat with a new test, carefully following the instructions.
This is a line-result test, not a plus/minus or digital “Pregnant/Not Pregnant” test.

When should you test?
For the most reliable result, test on or after the day your period is expected. You can test earlier, but the chance of a false negative is higher.
Does it need to be first-morning urine?
You can test at any time of day. However, first-morning urine usually has the highest concentration of hCG and is especially helpful when testing early. Avoid drinking excessive fluids immediately beforehand.
What if the result is negative?
If you tested before your expected period, test again when your period is due. If your period remains absent, repeat the test after a few days. Contact a healthcare professional if repeat tests are negative and your period still has not started.
What if the result is positive?
Contact a healthcare professional to discuss next steps and pregnancy care. A home test detects hCG; it does not establish how far along a pregnancy is or whether it is developing normally.
Can medications or medical conditions affect the result?
Fertility medications containing hCG can produce a positive result even without a new pregnancy. hCG may also remain after a recent birth, miscarriage, or abortion. Most common medications, including birth control pills and antibiotics, do not usually interfere, but consult your clinician if you are unsure.

- Keep dry and away from excessive heat; do not freeze.

- Do not reuse the test.
- Do not use line darkness to estimate gestational age or monitor pregnancy health.
- Seek urgent medical care for severe or one-sided abdominal pain, shoulder pain, fainting, or heavy bleeding—even with a negative test—because a home test cannot rule out an ectopic pregnancy
