Description

Lidocaine HCl 1% Injection 20 mL Multiple-Dose Vials is a medication commonly used for local anesthesia. It contains 1% lidocaine hydrochloride, a numbing agent, and is available in a 20 mL multiple-dose vial. This means that the vial can be used for multiple injections, as opposed to a single-use vial. Lidocaine HCl can be used to numb a specific area for medical procedures or surgeries, or to provide pain relief for conditions such as burns, insect bites, and shingles. It may also be used in dental procedures. Lidocaine works by temporarily blocking the nerves in the affected area, providing pain relief for a short period of time. The 20 mL multiple-dose vial allows for multiple administrations of the medication during a procedure. Lidocaine injection should be administered by a healthcare professional only.

Lidocaine HCl 1% Injection is a local anesthetic medication and its mechanism of action is to inhibit the conduction of nerve impulses by decreasing the permeability of the nerve cell membrane to sodium ions. This results in a reversible and temporary loss of sensation or pain in the affected area.

The HCl (hydrochloride) component of lidocaine HCl 1% injection helps to lower the pH of the solution, making it more acidic. This is important because the lower pH helps to stabilize lidocaine and prolong its duration of action.

When injected, lidocaine works by blocking the voltage-gated sodium channels in the nerve cell membrane, preventing the influx of sodium ions and thereby reducing the depolarization and transmission of nerve impulses.

In addition to its local anesthetic effect, lidocaine also possesses anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties.

Overall, lidocaine HCl 1% injection provides pain relief and numbing in the target area by interrupting the transmission of nerve signals and decreasing the sensation of pain.
