Description

Megestrol Acetate 20 mg tablets are a prescription medication used to treat certain types of cancer, specifically estrogen-sensitive cancers such as breast and endometrial cancer. It works by blocking the effects of estrogen in the body, slowing or stopping the growth and spread of cancer cells. Additionally, Megestrol Acetate 20 mg tablets may also be used to treat weight loss and poor appetite in patients with HIV/AIDS or other medical conditions

Megestrol Acetate 20 mg Tablets by Teva is a man-made chemical similar to the female hormone progesterone. Megestrol is used to treat loss of appetite and weight loss in people with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). Megestrol is also used in the treatment of advanced breast cancer and endometrial cancer.

Megestrol Acetate also is used for palliative treatment of breast and endometrial carcinoma; treatment of anorexia, cachexia, or unexplained significant weight loss in patients with AIDS.
