How to apply Eye Drop Medications

To apply eyedrops, pull the lower lid down to expose the conjunctival sac. Look up and away and then squeeze the prescribed number of drops into the sac. Release the eyelid and blink to distribute the medication.

To apply an ointment, gently lay a thin strip of the medication along the conjunctival sac from the inner to outer canthus. Avoid touching the tip of the tube to your eye. Then release the eyelid and roll your eye lid closed to distribute the medication.
