Tranexamic acid is a weak fibrinolytic agent that competitively inhibits plasminogen activation, and thereby diminishes the degradation of fibrinogen, plasminogen, and fibrin.

Cyklokapron (Tranexamic acid) is a drug that inhibits the breakdown of fibrinogen, a protein in the blood that helps with clotting. Cyklokapron is used to treat heavy menstrual bleeding and bleeding after childbirth. Cyklokapron is available as a tablet and an injection.
