Wegovy (semaglutide) Injector 1.7 mg/0.75 mL, 4 Pens Per Box is a medication used for chronic weight management in adults with obesity or excess weight who have at least one weight-related health condition, such as high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, or high cholesterol. It is used in combination with a reduced calorie diet and increased physical activity. Wegovy is a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor antagonist and works by slowing down digestion, decreasing appetite, and increasing feelings of fullness, which helps with weight loss. It is administered as a subcutaneous injection and comes in a package of 4 pens for 4 weeks of treatment.
Wegovy is an extended-release injectable medication containing semaglutide, a medication that belongs to a class of drugs called GLP-1 receptor agonists. These drugs work by imitating the effects of a naturally occurring hormone in the body called glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1).
GLP-1 is produced in the gut after we eat a meal and helps to lower blood sugar levels by stimulating the production of insulin and suppressing the release of the hormone glucagon.
