The BD BBL CultureSwab and CultureSwab Plus Collection & Transport System are medical devices used for the collection and transport of clinical specimens for microbiological testing. The CultureSwab is a tube containing a cotton swab used to collect and transport specimens for culture and sensitivity testing. The CultureSwab Plus is a tube containing a cotton swab and a specially formulated transport medium, designed to maintain the viability of bacteria during transport to the laboratory. These systems are designed to provide a safe and convenient method for the storage and transport of clinical specimens, ensuring accurate and reliable testing results.

BD CultureSwab™ is a sterile swab used for collecting and transporting clinical samples for various types of cultures. It is commonly used in microbiology laboratories for evaluating the presence of microorganisms, such as bacteria, fungi, and viruses, in specimens from patients with suspected infections. The BD CultureSwab™ consists of a flexible, plastic shaft with a swab tip made of either cotton, rayon, or flocked nylon. The swab tip is designed to efficiently collect and retain microorganisms from the surface of the sample site, while the shaft is securely attached to the tube and cap, ensuring the safe transportation of the sample to the laboratory.
