Crinone Progesterone Gel 4% is a medication used to supplement progesterone in women who are receiving hormone replacement therapy or who are undergoing fertility treatments. It is a synthetic form of the natural hormone progesterone and is applied topically in the form of a vaginal gel. Crinone helps to support a healthy uterine lining and maintain pregnancy in women who have low levels of progesterone. It is prescribed by a doctor and can be used during the first trimester of pregnancy.
How to use Crinone Progesterone Gel 4%:
1. Wash your hands thoroughly before handling the applicator and gel.
2. Open the package and remove the applicator from the foil wrapper. Do not remove the plunger cap at this point.
3. Sit or lie down in a comfortable position with your knees bent. This will make it easier to insert the applicator.
4. Carefully insert the applicator into your vagina until it reaches the entrance to your cervix. Do not force it in too far as this can cause discomfort and make it difficult to remove.
5. Gently push the plunger all the way in to deposit the gel inside your vagina. The gel should be deposited at the top of the vagina, just in front of the cervix.
6. Remove the applicator from your vagina. Be careful not to squeeze or push the plunger back up into the applicator.
7. Dispose of the used applicator in a safe and hygienic manner.
8. Wash your hands again to remove any remaining gel.
9. Use Crinone progesterone gel as directed by your doctor. It is usually recommended to use it once a day, preferably at the same time each day.
10. Continue to use the gel as directed, even if you start feeling better. Suddenly stopping the use of Crinone can result in a sudden drop in progesterone levels which may cause problems with the pregnancy.
11. If you miss a dose, use the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your regular dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to catch up.
12. Talk to your doctor if you experience any irritation, itching or discomfort after using Crinone. If symptoms persist or become severe, seek medical attention.
13. Store unused Crinone progesterone gel at room temperature away from light and moisture. Do not refrigerate or freeze the gel.
14. Follow any other instructions provided by your doctor or pharmacist. They may have specific recommendations for your individual use of Crinone progesterone gel.
