Crinone Progesterone Gel 8% is a prescription medication used in assisted reproductive technology (ART) treatments, such as in vitro fertilization (IVF) and frozen embryo transfer. It is also used to support early pregnancy in women who have low levels of progesterone. The gel contains a form of the hormone progesterone which helps support the lining of the uterus and prepares it for the implantation of a fertilized egg. It is available in a prefilled applicator for easy self-administration.
How to use Crinone Progesterone Gel 8%:
1. Begin by washing your hands thoroughly with soap and water. This will help prevent any harmful bacteria from entering your vagina and causing an infection.
2. Check the expiration date on the package of Crinone Progesterone Gel. Do not use the gel if it is past the expiration date.
3. Remove the applicator from the foil wrapper and hold it firmly by the thick end.
4. Twist off the thin end of the applicator to reveal the gel.
5. Choose a comfortable position to use the applicator, such as lying on your back with your knees bent or standing with one foot elevated on a chair. Gently insert the thin end of the applicator into your vagina, aiming it toward your back, just as if you were inserting a tampon.
6. Push the plunger of the applicator to release the gel into your vagina.
7. After using the applicator, remove it from your vagina. Throw it away in a waste container and wash your hands again.
8. Some of the gel may remain in the applicator after use. You can clean the applicator with mild soap and warm water if you wish, but it is not necessary.
9. Use Crinone Progesterone Gel at the same time each day or as directed by your doctor. It is important to use the gel consistently in order to maintain the proper hormone levels in your body.
10. If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember. However, if it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not use a double dose to make up for a missed one.
11. It is important to continue using Crinone Progesterone Gel for the full duration of treatment, even if you start feeling better. Do not stop using the gel without consulting your doctor first.
12. If you experience any unusual or concerning side effects while using Crinone Progesterone Gel, contact your doctor immediately. These may include symptoms such as vaginal bleeding, itching, irritation, or discharge.
13. Dispose of any unused gel after completing your prescribed treatment or if it has reached its expiration date. Do not flush it down the toilet or pour it down the drain. Instead, wrap it in a plastic bag and throw it away in the trash.
