View full detailsSincalide for Injection 5mcg/mcg is an FDA-approved synthetic version of cholecystokinin, a naturally-occurring gastrointestinal hormone known for its role in digestion and absorption. The medication is indicated for use as a gastrointestinal checkpoint - prior to performing such bariatric and diagnostic gastrointestinal procedures such as ERCP, MRCP and cholangiography. By administering either 1µg/kg of the synthetic cholecystokinin or 5µg/kg, the user is able to stimulate imaging of pancreatic and biliary ducts which can be used to help diagnose symptoms such as jaundice or biliary obstruction. Sincalide for Injection 5mcg/mcg is used in properly assisted medical environments and can help practitioners provide appropriate diagnosis procedures when treating gastroenterological illnesses.
How to use Sincalide for Injection 5 mcg:
1. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water before handling the vial.
2. Gather all the necessary supplies, including the vial of Sincalide, a syringe, and a needle. Check the expiration date of the medication and make sure it is not expired.
3. Remove the vial cap by twisting it counterclockwise. Wipe the rubber stopper with an alcohol swab and let it dry.
4. Use a syringe to inject the amount of air equal to the dose of Sincalide you need. For example, if you need a 5 mcg dose, you would inject 5 units of air.
5. Insert the needle into the rubber stopper of the vial. Inject the air into the vial.
6. Turn the vial and syringe upside down, making sure the tip of the needle is submerged in the medication. Slowly pull the plunger back to draw the required dose of Sincalide into the syringe.
7. Check the syringe for any air bubbles. If there are any, gently tap the syringe to make the bubbles rise to the top. Push the plunger to remove the air bubbles and make sure the dosage is accurate.
8. Remove the needle from the vial and make sure the dose is correct. If you need to adjust the dose, repeat steps 4-7.
9. Choose an injection site, such as the stomach or upper thigh. Clean the injection site with an alcohol swab and let it dry.
10. Pinch and hold a fold of skin at the injection site. Insert the needle into the skin at a 90-degree angle.
11. Slowly push the plunger to inject the medication. Once the syringe is empty, remove the needle from the skin.
12. Press a cotton ball or gauze over the injection site and hold it for a few seconds to prevent bleeding.
13. Discard the used syringe and needle in a designated sharps container.
Note: Follow your healthcare provider's instructions for the timing of the injection and any other necessary steps. If you have any questions or concerns about using Sincalide, do not hesitate to consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
