Description

Carboplatin for Injection 450mg / 45 mL Multidose Vial 45 mL is a chemotherapy medication used to treat different types of cancer, including ovarian, lung, and bladder cancer. It is administered through an injection into the vein and works by interfering with the growth and reproduction of cancer cells. The multidose vial provides 450mg of the medication in a 45 mL solution, allowing multiple doses to be withdrawn from the same vial. This medication is commonly known by its brand name, Paraplatin.

Carboplatin for Injection 450mg / 45 mL must be given in a hospital or medical facility under the supervision of a doctor who is experienced in giving chemotherapy medications for cancer treatment. Carboplatin can cause a severe decrease in the number of blood cells in your bone marrow. Carboplatin is used to treat ovarian cancer. Carboplatin is also used for other types of cancer, including lung, head and neck, endometrial, esophageal, bladder, breast, and cervical; central nervous system or germ cell tumors; osteogenic sarcoma; and as preparation for a stem cell or bone marrow transplant.

Carboplatin is in a class of drugs known as platinum-containing compounds (metal salt). It is an alkylating agent. It works against cancer cells in the “resting phase” and slows or stops the cells growth. Many chemo medications identify and attack cancer cells because they reproduce quickly.
